Conversation With Anne Friedberg

Virtual WindowLast spring, professor Anne Friedberg was at Concordia University to give a talk sponsored by the Screen Culture Research Group, the Concordia University Research Chair in Communication Studies, the Research Group on the History and Epistemology of Film Studies, and the joint Doctoral Programme in Communication Studies.

She kindly accepted to have an informal talk about issues related to her recent book and website with the members of the group.

Anne Friedberg is Professor and Chair of the Critical Studies Division in USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. A historian and theorist of media culture, Professor Friedberg is the author of Window Shopping: Cinema and the Postmodern (University of California Press, 1993) and co editor of Close Up 1927-1933: Cinema and Modernism (Princeton University Press, 1998). Her latest book is The Virtual Window: From Alberti to Microsoft (The MIT Press,2006). She is the incoming president of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.
